Blinding

Wow. Tom Binns, your jewellery should come with a warning: Do not look directly at it, can cause blindness from the gleam. Also can cause debt for people with little will power.

And the studs make me weak :)

Lots of 'it buuuuurns' love,

Stomp

It's nearly going to be time for huddling up in coats and traipsing around in boots, so I'm putting dibs on this pair from River Island:

I think the country/equestrian look is perfect at the moment and I can't wait to get my hands on some essentials like these! I've been at work today and I'm babysitting tonight, so I might be able to afford them in the near future. Although I have a slight phobia of horses so I won't be going riding anytime soon...

BC Whatever

I have fallen in love with graphic prints recently, so when I saw this amazing dress from Ashish I had to post:

That is some funky Aztec going on. And I think if sequins had been invented and available in the 14th century or whenever then they would have combined them to make this marvel. I hated history back in the days when I had to do it (a whole 3 years ago!) but if it had been history of fashion, we might have got along.

Squawk?

So, after finishing my week long self-imposed ban on knit wear, I am glad to be able to resume posting with this jumper from Whistles that can only be described as fabulous:

It makes me think 'Ostrich'. And surprisingly, not in a bad way. I love the slightly out there stripes of fluff, I can see me working that. Although at this moment in time I am wearing a hot pink mohair cardigan, so my perception might be slightly skewed.

Lots of 'They have weird knees' love,

Last Ones Standing

What a busy, amazing, hectic weekend. So mental it actually doesn't feel like I've had any time off. Work on Saturday and then I saw Example in the evening. They were so unbelievably awesome, Kickstarts was the best 3:01 of my liiiife. I would recommend them big style. Then I went to a vintage fair on the Sunday and picked up some lovely bits and pieces, but nothing as simply beautiful as this top from Mango:

I adore the marl and the bow. It comes in a pretty burnt orange too.

Lots of 'How long until the weekend?' love,

My Only Sunshine

I kid you not, today I looked out of the window in Chemistry and thought we were experiencing a monsoon here in England. It has been bucketing it down from lunchtime onwards and it is so miserable and grey. I actually heard some of the younger girls in my school discussing which animals they would put on their ark, it's been that bad. But after seeing this beauty from D&G my day has been brightened:

It is the ray of light in my tropical storm. I love parkas, and the added shearling makes it the best thing I have seen today in a long time. Now, how to find £755...

Lots of 'I could virtually swim home' love,

Punk'd

Yves Saint Laurent is pushing the boundaries of footwear. Stefano Pilati has boldly gone where no sane person has gone before:

It's a shoe with a mohican. Or a maybe its parents were a classic court and a brush. Either way, it would make a sexy addition to my wardrobe, and would help me with various dusting chores. Who says fashion can't be practical?

It Figures

Following my no-knitwear promise (expiration date: Sunday), I have found something suitably lovely to post for today from Temperley London:

What with the charmingly squiggly pattern, the contouring details and the beautiful neckline, I'd say this is a winner. The only way to improve on perfection = add a snugly cardi (just cos I said I wouldn't put up pictures, doesn't mean I can't talk about them).

Restraint

River Island sent me an email today with their Look collection, featuring this beaut:

Niiiice. Can't resist knitwear at the mo, as you can probably guess, it seems to make up 90% of my posts. I promise this will be the last one (for this week, at least). I'd pair it with this brill belt for a dash of equestrian detailing:

Jumper and belt, with woolly tights and some walking-esque boots and we're good to go. The only problems is I don't suit mustard. Like really don't suit. I love it, but it hates me. Makes me look kind of ill, and I don't really want that. So River Island, can you expand your colour ranges? Ok, thanks bye.

Lots of 'Whhhyyyy??' love,

Borrowed

Browsing around the old internet today, and I came upon this advert:

Apart from being a brilliant concept and so memorable, I love that guy's cardigan.

Totally delish, I'm a sucker for a cable knit, and how could anyone resist that blue? If this was my boyf, I'd be stealing that.

Lots of 'If I get it in an XS will it fit me?' love,

Chilly Billy

So it is most definitely winter. My fingers are numb to the point of potential frost bite and my mum is trying to get me into a fleece at every opportunity (I say frostbite is preferable). I'd much rather wrap one of these from Jack Wills around the hyperthermia in my torso:

I can really appreciate the Fair Isle whilst sitting in the igloo that is my room. The bright colours can remind me of summer days that are (long) gone. And those are some very cute buttons.

Lots of 'I actually can't feel my toes' love,

Guilt

So I didn't post anything yesterday. I was partying. I'm ashamed of the neglect of my blog. I'm a disgrace.

But to make up for it I have this super lovely for you, direct from Roksanda Ilincic (hardest name to spell ever?):

Oh wow. The feathers are making me slightly dizzy with lust.

This is totally impractical for me. The fanciest party I've ever been to was in a barn (albeit a National Trust one). But if I had this dress I'm sure I would be invited to so many more...

Lots of 'party at Buckingham Palace anyone?' love,

Prioritising

I fell in love with this blouse from Pins and Needles and Urban Outfitters some time ago, and my adoration has not diminished over time:

It is perfect in every single way. I love the shape, the material, the pattern. Simply stunning, and I am desperately trying to stop myself from spending nearly all my wages from the past two weeks on it.

So far it's not looking good.

Lots of 'Hi, can I take out a loan?' love,

Poaching

I'm adoring the latest arm candy from Marc by Marc Jacobs:

Lush :) Bit of animal print and gorgeously simple minimalist colours are making this a major lust-after. Paired with a delicate blouse from Vanessa Bruno:

And these absolute gems from Jason Wu:

And we have a winner.

Lots of 'but I did so well in my exams' love,

Surprise Attack

Dear Mary Katrantzou,

You're relatively new to the fashion scene, so imma let you know how this whole situation works.

You do not come straight out of the blue and create beautiful dresses, i.e. below, without warning me beforehand.

It is simply delicious. May I applaud your use of geometric stripes and jewelled swirly bits. And the one shoulder/sleeve is very attractive.

However, getting back to my original point. Next time something like this is going to pop up in my inbox and send me into spirals of desire for it, please inform me prior to it arriving so I can prepare myself for its wonderfulness.

That is all.

Lots of 'nice work, newbie' love,

Underwear Issues

I tend not to go for outfits that require fancy/unusual/down right uncomfortable underwear. But I am willing to make an exception for Julien Macdonald:

Talk about scanty, I don't see that covering my modesty for long. But providing I walk into the room and sit down, what could possibly go wrong? (I'll leave you to ponder that...). And besides, everyone will be too dazzled by the tangerine swathes to notice a stray boob.

Lots of 'Genuinely, what bra do you wear with that?' love,

Sweet Tooth

To satisfy my sugar cravings, I fancy a munch on this treat that Judith Leiber had cooked up:

It's a bejewelled cupcake :) Less calories than an ordinary cupcake, lasts for much longer and looks fab. So far I don't see a downside (providing we ignore the price). I salute you, Judith, for doing this impossible. That is making the cupcake more desirable than it already was.

Autumnal Air

Today I picked up my first conker of the season. If you've read my earlier posts, you will have realised that I've recently celebrated my 17th birthday. Not 7th. 17th. Nevertheless, the child in me saw this conker and wanted it. So I casually bent down and smuggled it into my pocket. It's beautiful - a deep mottled brown with a perfect shine. And my train of thought went something like this: conker = Autumn = new coat required. After further thought along such lines, I decided that I would push out the sartorial boat and consider a cape. Hence today's photo:

French Connection Cape, I love you and need you in my life. With your fluffy pop poms and tartan lining, you are my autumnal delight. Arriving in a wardrobe near you.

Lots of 'Apparently they're very practical too' love,

Wild Cat

For my birthday I received a pair of these funky glasses/necklace hybrids from a friend. I think it might have been a bit of a joke, but I fully intend to wear them:

Leopard print = nailed. Geek trend = perfect. And to top it all off I haven't seen anyone else with them, so that's an added bonus. I think I'll pair them with my sheer khaki shirt and bodycon skirt for extra foxy librarian points.

Lots of 'first overdue notice' love,

Collaboration X

So Style.com is 10 years old, and is celebrating with 10 designer collaborations, creating a range of limited edition t-shirts. I'm liking the offerings of Prada, Balmain and Rodarte (top to bottom):

Prada have developed some kind of edgy abstract robot thing that has an eye and a broom and other misshapen objects.

Balmain supplies their winning trademark gothic/glam formula

Rodarte feature a map of Santa Cruz (possibly the coolest sounding place on Earth). But my favourite out of the whole bunch has to be Givenchy:

Nice bit of ribcage, totally not like anything I would normally go for. But the more I look at it the more I want it. And at $45 I think it's a steal. I'll just have to convince my parents of that fact.

Lots of 'It'll help me with Biology homework' love,

Unwrapped

Happy Birthday to meee :) Yes, I have reached the milestone that is 17 years old. Provisional driving licence on its way (beware fellow road users).

So I received lots of lovely presents today, off friends and the family. One of my friends informed me that I have a 'special surprise' that will arrive later in the week. Here's hoping it's one of these:

Mulberry scarf that combines tassels and tartan. This is too good to be true. Or maybe these babies from Sportmax:

Love the peep toe, love the mesh, love the brown leather and the gold heel. But most of all I love the loafer-ish tassel. Anything with a tassel.

Lots of 'best friends forever' love,

Granny Knit

My Mum once told me I dress like my Grandma, and I still can't work out whether this is a good thing or not.

On the one hand: my Mum's saying I have a fabulous vintage style and have inherited the screen-siren looks of my Grandmother.

On the other: she's saying I look and dress like an 80 year old.

Well if my Grandma had one of these lovely cardigans from Chloe then I would be only too happy to be her mini-me:

That is seriously attractive argyle, right there.

Lots of 'family heirloom?' love,

Net Worth

After a gruelling session at the gym today I was greeted on my return home by a lovely email from net-a-porter, featuring these two bad boys:

A yummy from Halston. Draping + berry colours = major want. Also this tasty knit courtesy of Helmut Lang:

I genuinely want to cuddle up in that. Or cuddle up to someone in that (with the proviso it's not Marilyn Manson/my maths teacher/any of my teachers).

I better not spend anymore of my precious time lusting over these, I've got to email my French pen-pal

rock and roll huh ;)

On the Hunt

I'm sure you've all heard that this is the season of fantastic coats, and Zara has some outstanding examples, my favourites being this quilted number with leather patches and some fab brown trim...

... or this tweed hunting jacket with lapels to die for.

And now that Zara has officially entered the world of e-tailing we can enjoy these delights and many others without leaving the comfort of home. I could lay some serious money down, it's just too easy on a credit card

Lots of 'if I don't eat can I have both?' love,

American Dream

I'm falling for the varsity trend that's kicking about this season, particularly this jacket from Urban Outfitters

Makes me think of cheerleaders, baseball matches and campus. Kinda makes me want to go to uni in the USA ;) Must discuss said matter with the parents, although a fab jacket isn't a determining factor in the old uni decision making process for them. Shame.

Lots of 'Ivy League - yes please!' love,

Birth of a blog...

Hello out there :)

Welcome to my blog, where I'm gonna share all the lovelies I come across in my everyday perusing. I've never done this before so please excuse me if it's horrendous, I'm just giving it a go in the hope that someone out there reads it!

Lots of 'how hard can it be?' love,
